GMV, a technology partner of EMT Madrid, participates in a webinar on urban multimodal mobility data spaces

GMV, socio tecnológico de EMT Madrid, participa en el webinar sobre espacios de datos de movilidad multimodal urbana

GMV participated in EMT Madrid’s Standardized Data Spaces for Multimodal Urban Mobility webinar, in which representatives from the fields of mobility and data management analyzed the role of data spaces in the digital transformation of transportation and in the development of new mobility services.

Representing GMV, data quality and governance consultant Rosalia Leonor Esquivel Méndez presented the company’s vision on the evolution of the data space ecosystem, GMV’s role in driving and developing it, and the main challenges associated with the secure, interoperable, and governed exchange of information. She emphasized the importance of ensuring that each organization retains control of and sovereignty over its data, while at the same time facilitating data exchange to generate value through collaboration. She also shared the key lessons GMV has learned from participating in various data space projects and initiatives.

The webinar also provided an opportunity to learn about the Mobility Data Space, spearheaded by EMT Madrid. The initiative does not replace the open data platforms the organization has been operating for more than fifteen years (the Open Data portal, since 2010, and MobilityLabs, since 2016), but rather complements them with a new layer of governed data exchange, designed for use cases that require greater guarantees of security, traceability, and control over access to information.

The project is based on four integrated cornerstones working together: a governance model based on a rulebook, contracts, and access conditions; a secure, interoperable, and traceable technical architecture; a platform for publishing and consuming data; and a methodology focused on implementing real-world use cases. The cross-cutting guiding principle is data sovereignty, ensuring that EMT Madrid always retains control over who accesses the information, for what purpose, and under what conditions.

In this first phase, governed access has been enabled for research projects carried out in collaboration with chairs and centers with which EMT Madrid already has a collaboration framework in place. The onboarding of new operators, the opening of commercial access, and the connection to other European data spaces are next on the project’s roadmap, which is progressing step by step: strengthening the platform, launching new use cases, and, finally, connecting with other initiatives within the European data space ecosystem.

Through this project, GMV and EMT Madrid are continuing to move towards a more efficient, connected, and sustainable mobility model, based on secure, interoperable, and governed data sharing that can drive innovation and the creation of new mobility services.
