STEM Talent Girl 2021/2022 wrapped up on May 21 at a closing ceremony at the Conde Ansúrez Conference Centre in Valladolid, Spain. Run by the ASTI Foundation, the program aims to support young women and garner their interest in STEM careers. It is geared towards students in the last years of compulsory secondary school, upper secondary school and university.

The ASTI Foundation and the Regional Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities of Castilla y León organized the event to hand out diplomas to the young students who took part in this 6th iteration of the program.

The event was also attended by the program’s collaborating companies, such as GMV, which received the STEM Talent Girl Seal as a company committed to STEM education.

GMV has been collaborating with STEM Talent Girl since it began in 2017. The company took part again this year by organizing mentoring sessions, talks and master classes in which female team members from GMV used their experience and knowledge to get the young women taking part in the program excited about a career in science and technology.

A particularly noteworthy event was the “Like a woman!” meeting held in early May in which four GMV female employees from the defense, cybersecurity and automotive areas shared their stories with students in the program to help guide them as they pursue their own educational interests.

The STEM Talent Girl program has centers in Madrid, Santander, León, Zamora, Salamanca, Valladolid, Palencia, Burgos, Soria, Segovia and Ávila.
