“Invisible no more: Tracking ship emissions from space” webinar

Details
Webinar EO4SEM

The webinar “Invisible no more: Tracking ship emissions from space” will be held on 23 September from 2 to 4 pm as part of EO4SEM (Earth Observation for Ship Emission Monitoring), a project funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) and led by GMV that studies how Earth observation can help independently measure ship emissions.

During the session, ESA and the other participating organizations will provide insights into how satellite Earth observation and artificial intelligence-based models are helping to make maritime emissions visible, from shipping routes on the high seas to port environments.

To do so, they’ll be presenting the EO4SEM and EMMA (Environmental Maritime Modelling and Analytics) projects as two complementary approaches to address the shortcomings of traditional emissions monitoring systems and provide more accurate information on pollution generated by maritime transport, thereby contributing to progress toward cleaner coastlines and more effective regulation of the sector.
