The company will contribute to key initiatives across domains such as space, air combat, cyber defense, and soldier systems, further strengthening its commitment to technological autonomy and European cooperation.GMV will provide technological contributions to the following initiatives:SPIDER 2: A project that builds on a previous feasibility study and focuses on the development of affordable, multi-mission satellite constellations for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR). The project will enhance responsiveness, reduce revisit times, and shorten system latency—key factors for space-based defense operations.ASIMOV: Also in the space domain, ASIMOV aims—through the integration of civilian and defense developments—to define, design, and validate federated architecture for on-orbit operations capable of refueling, repairing, inspecting, and protecting satellites under adverse conditions. The project will include the development of a concept of operations (CONOPS), feasibility analyses for secure on-orbit operations, and the maturation of critical technologies in this field.ECC2: A project focused on cyber defense that will develop a sovereign, federated cyber command and control (C2) solution. The platform will integrate intelligence, planning, and operations modules, supported by a unified digital environment ensuring interoperability, data federation, and multilevel security, in line with EU and NATO digital transformation strategies.EICACS 2: This project continues work initiated in previous EDF calls and aims to provide European air forces with collaborative combat capabilities enabled by interoperability standards. EICACS 2 will also contribute to shaping future NATO standards.DART: Proposes a transformative approach to managing the growing complexity of air combat systems. By combining digital twins, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and interoperability, the project seeks to optimize the design, integration, and operation of systems of systems (SoS) in military environments.ACHILE 2: In the land systems domain, ACHILE 2 builds on previous developments to transform the next-generation soldier system into an open, modular, and interoperable architecture. The project incorporates technologies such as artificial intelligence for threat detection, augmented reality, and exoskeletons, expanding its scope from individual soldiers to full units such as platoons.EPIIC 2: Building on the results of the project’s initial phase, EPIIC 2 advances next-generation cockpit technologies by removing existing limitations and enabling pilots to focus on tactical leadership and mission-critical actions, thereby enhancing operational effectiveness and crew safety. The European Defence Fund, the European Union’s main instrument for fostering cooperation in defense research and development, demonstrates in its 2025 call the scale and ambition of Europe’s investment in critical capabilities. The 57 selected projects—with Spain participating in 42 of them—cover key areas such as artificial intelligence, cyber defense, drones, and counter-drone systems, with the goal of keeping the EU at the forefront of defense technology. Overall, the call brings together 634 entities from 26 Member States and channels €675 million into capability development and €332 million into research. In this context, GMV’s involvement strengthens its position within the European defense ecosystem, where it has already built a solid track record through cooperative programs such as EDF and EDIDP. With a total of 49 projects, GMV remains among the leading contributors to the program and continues to invest in the development of advanced technological solutions that support a more secure, resilient, and strategically autonomous Europe.More information:Media & Communications[email protected] Share Related Defense and Security News Autek expands its presence in the National Cryptologic Center catalog Defense and SecurityAeronautics News GMV hosts first workshop to update EDA´s Strategic Research Agenda on aerial defense Defense and Security News GMV and EM&E Group sign collaboration agreement for the development of ATP howitzers and SILAM
