GMV strengthens its role in EGNOS with a new contract for the evolution of the CPFPS

GMV has signed a new contract for the specification, design, development, and qualification of two versions (V244 and V245) of the CPFPS (Central Processing Facility Processing Set) of the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System (EGNOS), funded by the European Union, with Thales Alenia Space France as prime contractor.

The CPFPS developed by GMV is a key component of the Central Processing Facility (CPF) developed by Thales Alenia Space France under the EGNOS program. The CPFPS is responsible for processing satellite navigation signals and generating the corrections and integrity messages that improve the accuracy and reliability of GPS positioning. These enhancements are essential for the system’s Safety of Life (SoL) service, used mainly in the aviation sector to perform precision approaches at European airports.

The new contract is part of the EGNOS V2 Life Extension Plan (LIFEX), which aims to keep the system operational until the entry into service of EGNOS V3. This first phase, known as LIFEX1, includes, among other actions, the introduction of algorithmic improvements in system processing and management in accordance with new EGNOS station network.

With over 25 years of experience in EGNOS, GMV continues to play a leading role in its evolution. The company is responsible for the design, development, validation, and maintenance of several of its core elements, including the CPFPS itself, the EDAS (EGNOS Data Access Service), the EURONOTAM (European Notice to Airmen Service), the ASQF (Application Specific Qualification Facility), and the ATPAIV (Automated Test and Performance Analysis and Integrity Validation) tool.
