The PRISMA project: creating the virtual co-pilot of the future

Proyecto PRISMA: el copiloto virtual del futuro

The project known as PRISMA (Intelligent Sensing and Response for Driving Safety through Adaptive Monitoring) is a pioneering European R&D initiative to promote safer, more autonomous, and more sustainable mobility. Donde GMV aporta su liderazgo en inteligencia artificial y computación cuántica para redefinir la seguridad en la conducción.

The PRISMA project is creating an innovative solution that will go beyond the capabilities of any currently existing driver monitoring system (DMS). The project’s research is focused on developing an intelligent, adaptive virtual assistant, with the aim of producing a qualitative leap forward for driving safety. By combining advanced sensing, artificial intelligence (AI), and adaptive learning technologies, the PRISMA project will create a system that is able to produce a deep understanding of a driver’s condition and surroundings, to anticipate situations of risk and respond in a personalized manner.

This system will be able to understand, anticipate, and respond in a personalized way for each individual driver, vehicle, and environment, by combining:

  • Artificial intelligence and machine vision para una percepción avanzada.
  • Multimodal synthetic data para entrenar sistemas en escenarios complejos.
  • State-of-the-art embedded systems and sensors
  • Applied quantum computing para optimizar modelos y garantizar una mayor robustez.

PRISMA está impulsado por un consorcio multidisciplinar de líderes en innovación tecnológica:

  • Rovimática (project coordinator): experts in AI, machine vision, and robotics.
  • Idneo: specialists in automotive radar and hardware.
  • Passion Motorbike Factory (Scoobic): urban electric vehicle pioneers.
  • Anyverse: an international leader in synthetic data generation.
  • GMV: a multinational technology firm that is contributing its expertise in AI, critical systems, and quantum computing.

At GMV, we are leading development of the cognitive capabilities for the system and the use of quantum computing to enhance driving safety.

Impact and vision for the future

The PRISMA project is laying the foundations for smarter, safer, and more reliable mobility:

  • Road safety: Reduction of accidents linked to distractions, fatigue or critical situations.
  • Sustainability: Energy optimization in electric vehicles and emissions reduction.
  • Competitiveness: Positioning Spain and the EU at the forefront of autonomous mobility.
  • Responsible innovation: Integration of ethics, privacy and cybersecurity from the design.

Justification

The PRISMA project has received funding from Spain’s Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), with additional support from the country’s Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities as part of the Science and Innovation Missions 2024 program.
