GMV y Scoobic cambian las reglas del reparto urbano con el nuevo vehículo eléctrico y autónomo

Urban mobility is taking a major step forward with the launching of Scoobic MED, which is the first 100% electric autonomous vehicle with 5G connectivity designed for last-mile delivery in urban environments. This innovative development is already operating in our cities, as a real solution that is redefining urban logistics. It is the result of an alliance between the multinational technology firm GMV and Passion Motorbike Factory – Scoobic, a leading company in the design of urban electric vehicles.

With a design that allows driverless, emission‑free operation, Scoobic MED represents a high‑impact technological and environmental breakthrough. Its mission: to offer a sustainable, efficient, and automated alternative that can address the growing challenges of last-mile delivery in urban areas.

The project is also introducing an innovative pay-per-use model, which makes it easy to implement this technology with no need for large upfront investments. Thanks to this approach, organizations of all sizes – from SMEs to major corporations – can take advantage of autonomous, electric, connected mobility solutions, with easily scalable application in any urban or industrial setting.

These are silent, fully electric vehicles with zero emissions, which can address the increasing demand for a logistics infrastructure that is compatible with the development of more livable and sustainable cities. Compared to the congestion, noise, and pollution created by conventional distribution methods, Scoobic MED offers an alternative that fits perfectly with the smart city model.

State-of-the-art technology for efficient logistics

Scoobic MED is equipped with the latest generation of technologies: 5G connectivity, perception sensors, artificial intelligence, autonomous navigation systems, and GMV’s uPathWay platform. This technological ecosystem gives Scoobic MED the ability to detect obstacles, make decisions in real time, and optimize each route with no need for human intervention.

As explained by Miguel Hormigo, Manager of GMV’s Industry sector, “we’re proud to see these vehicles in operation under real‑world conditions, making their own decisions and demonstrating that this futuristic technology has now become a reality. Working together with Scoobic has been an excellent experience, and this operational success is a clear sign of the potential for technological collaboration applied to urban mobility.”

According to Scoobic’s CEO, José María Gómez, “with Scoobic MED, we’ve achieved a major technological advancement that is already having a real impact. We’ve developed much more than just an autonomous vehicle, because we also have a new way of understanding urban logistics: cleaner, more efficient, and more human.”

A replicable model with an international future

Although this project has been focused on last-mile delivery, the Scoobic MED vehicle can also be adapted to a wide range of use cases, from transporting medical supplies to distributing materials in industrial settings.

Its versatility, scalability, and low environmental footprint all make this an ideal platform, for advancing towards a model of autonomous urban mobility that can be replicated in other cities and countries. Scoobic MED is the technological answer to the challenges of modern logistics: zero emissions, driverless, and maximum operational efficiency.

The “Scoobic MED: 5G Autonomous Electric Logistics Vehicle in smart pay-per-use mode” project (file no. TSI-065100-2022-009) has been funded by Spain’s Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Services, through the UNICO SECTORIAL 5G 2022 Program as part of the country’s Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan. With almost €3 million in investment, this project is being led by Passion Motorbike Factory in cooperation with Scoobic Urban Mobility, with GMV as a subcontractor partner.
