As part of the Community of Madrid’s "4ºESO + Empresa" program, GMV again welcomed a group of 10th-grade students to its facilities at the Madrid Technological Park in Tres Cantos. This program aims to give high school students some first-hand experience in the working world, to help them make decisions about their future studies and careers.

In mid-April, a total of 11 students from 7 high schools in Madrid took part in a 3‑day visit to GMV, as a reflection of their interest in the company’s activities. For GMV, participation in this program is a way to demonstrate its commitment to encouraging careers in science and technology, and the company was able to give the students an up-close look at the wide range of professional opportunities available in the STEM disciplines.

On the first day, the students were welcomed to the company and introduced to its various activities and organizational divisions. They also received a guided tour of GMV’s central facilities on Calle Isaac Newton. On the second and third days, the students were divided into pairs based on their specific interests, and they were then given a close-up look at the work taking place in the various technical departments. The students were introduced to some of GMV’s team members, who gave them demonstrations regarding the daily work they perform so that the students could experience the realities of working at a technology-focused company like GMV.

Initiatives like these allow students to take a preliminary step “from the classroom to the workplace”, as a way of supplementing their academic learning with real-world experience.
