GMV Chair Prize-giving Ceremony 2015-2016
On 12 December the Higher School of Civil Engineers (Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos) hosted the 82nd diploma award ceremony for aeronautics engineers graduating from the Higher School of Aeronautics Engineers (ETSI Aeronáuticos) of Madrid Polytechnic University (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid: UPM). Present at this ceremony was the Chief of Staff of the Spanish Airforce (Jefe del Estado Mayor del Ejército del Aire), Francisco Javier García Arnáiz.
As usual this event also included the prize-giving ceremonies for the “GMV Chair Award to Excellence in the Space Specialty” and the “Professor Juan José Martínez García Award to Excellence”. The former was won by Ginés Moreno, a recent GMV recruit, and the latter by Íñigo Cortajarena. Both prizes are awarded under the GMV Chair (Cátedra GMV) and were given out this year by Manuel Pérez, General Manager of Homeland Security and Defense of GMV.
Manuel Pérez Cortés also participated on 4 November in the prize-giving ceremony for the best academic records in each of the specialties in the aerospace engineering degree by the Higher School of Aeronautics and Space Engineering (ETSIAE) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) - 3rd Graduation Ceremony. The GMV CHAIR (CÁTEDRA GMV) prize was awarded to the graduate in the specialty of “Aerospace Sciences and Technologies” and the “GMV” Prize to the best academic record in the specialty of “Aerospace Sciences and Technologies”, Íñigo Fernández Iwinning both prizes.
The Cátedra GMV is an academic initiative set up in 2004 in collaboration with the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and the Higher School of Aeronautics Engineers (Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Aeronáuticos: ETSIA). Its remit is to promote ETSIA teaching courses (mainly Masters and PhD) and joint ETSIA-GMV research work in fields of mutual interest to both, all with the top levels of excellence and quality.
