GMV has been selected by NASA to continue its work on the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO). The renewal of this contract is particularly noteworthy because the LRO mission is one of the first and longest lasting contracts for GMV´s USA subsidiary. This mission also set GMV apart from other satellite ground segment software companies by making it the only company in the world to deploy operational Mission Planning & Scheduling software to control satellites that are operated by space agencies on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.

Launched in 2009, LRO was NASA’s first mission to return to the moon. LRO’s mission planning and scheduling system (MPS) was developed for NASA based upon GMV’s, flexplan. flexplan has provided continuous support since launch for both critical mission functions and mission support functions including: Nonconflicting Ground and Space Segment Scheduling, Automation of Ground Pass Scripts, Building of stored command codes, Onboard Memory Modeling, Generation of Activities Reports and Slew Maneuver Planning.

In the next year, GMV will update the operating system and database infrastructure. flexplan will also be integrated into a virtual mission control center, one of the first of its kind at the Goddard Space Flight Center. These updates and on-going support are scheduled to span through October 2013.
