GMV will be one of the leading participants at the 9th IAA Planetary Defense Conference, which will be held in Cape Town, South Africa. This event has established itself as a key forum for international experts in the field of planetary protection against threats from asteroids and comets.

The conference will address the latest scientific and technological breakthroughs in planetary defense, including recent space missions, hypothetical impact scenario exercises, and international mitigation policy developments. Students will also be actively involved in the event, with presentations on topics ranging from near-Earth object discovery and characterization to asteroid deflection and disruption techniques.

GMV is sponsoring this edition of the conference and will be awarding prizes to the three best papers submitted by students, reaffirming its commitment to the education and encouragement of young talent in the planetary defense field.

Andrea Pellacani, GMV’s technical manager of Hera and RAMSES, will also present a paper, “Hera GNC flying towards Didymos and its adaptation to RAMSES,” which will address key aspects of the guidance, navigation, and control of both missions.
