La Sociedad de Informática de la Salud reconoce los resultados de TartaglIA para transformar la investigación clínica y sanitaria en España con Inteligencia Artificial

The innovative TARTAGLIA project, led by the technological multinational GMV and supported by a public-private consortium composed of 16 key entities* in the health sector, has far exceeded its main objective: to accelerate clinical and health research through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to extract valuable information from real patient data, thus facilitating the development of new therapies and improving the accuracy of health care.

One of the most outstanding achievements of the project has been the implementation of advanced models of neural networks and the integration of data from multiple sources, which has allowed, among other things, to reach an impressive accuracy of 80% in the prediction of prostate cancer. This figure not only underlines the potential of AI in diagnosis, but also marks a significant advance in the improvement of personalized medicine.

Thanks to the collaboration of the private sector with key institutions in the health sector—such as the Galician Service of Health, the Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona, the Fundación Canaria Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria de Canarias, Fundación Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron Research Institute, Fundació Fisabio, Fundación para la investigación del Hospital Universitario y Politécnico La Fe-Comunidad Valenciana, Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputation, Fundación Rioja Salud—, the project has succeeded in promoting the development of innovative solutions for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases such as Alzheimer's, prostate cancer, diabetes, cardiometabolic diseases and various complex chronic pathologies.

The impact of TARTAGLIA has been so significant that the Spanish Health Informatics Society (SEIS) has recognized its progress with an honorable mention in its National Health and Informatics Awards held yesterday, chaired by Mónica García Gómez, Minister of Health of Spain. The SEIS has highlighted the consortium's pioneering effort to digitally transform clinical and health research in Spain. The jury highlighted the implementation of a federated network with AI and the use of advanced cryptographic methods, as a crucial advance for the sector. At the award ceremony, representatives of GMV, the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Galician Health Service collected the award, underlining the value that this project brings to both health professionals and citizens.

TARTAGLIA, launched in 2022, stood out among all the projects presented in the Artificial Intelligence R&D Missions program of the España Digital 2025 agenda, obtaining the highest score. In addition, it has funding from the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds, achieving a budget of more than 7.5 million euros, the largest in its category.

With TARTAGLIA, technology continues to demonstrate its ability to transform the future of health, opening new doors to more precise diagnoses, more effective treatments and an increasingly personalized and accessible medicine.
