GMV presents the Clinical and Epidemiological Data Mining System

GMV has taken part in Murcia Region’s First Big Data and Healthcare Conference, presenting the HEXIN project, the only clinical and epidemiological data mining system run by one of Spain’s regional authorities.

Inmaculada Pérez Garro, Director of the Eastern Region of GMV Secure e-Solutions, explained to the conference how HEXIN works as a system for mining all types of patient information in an Electronic Health Record for the purposes of clinical decision-taking, management and support in identification tasks of epidemiological cases. The system also provides a search-engine and information-analysis system for finding correlations between the data and drawing statistical conclusions to help the patient.

The event, organized by TICBioMed together with the Regional Healthcare Ministry of Murcia (Consejería de Sanidad de la Región de Murcia) and the Murcia Health Service (Servicio Murciano de Salud: SMS), has met its objective of making further headway in the identification of healthcare Big Data challenges and opportunities within Murcia region. The conference was structured in two parts: firstly, presentation of Big Data in the healthcare setting; and secondly a presentation by private companies of their healthcare success stories.

TICBioMed is a nonprofit business association that coordinates healthcare organizations, firms, universities and other public and private bodies to promote technological innovation in healthcare.
