GMV presenta el proyecto GreenBot en el evento de CTA y Cajamar sobre robótica agrícola

Miguel Hormigo, Manager of GMV’s Industry sector, recently participated in an event entitled “Technological Challenges: Robotics as a Driver of Greenhouse Innovation”, organized by the Andalusia Technological Corporation (CTA) and the Cajamar savings bank. During the session dedicated to applied robotics use cases, Mr. Hormigo gave a presentation about the GreenBot project and its latest advancements. This is an operational group funded by the regional government of Andalusia, where the focus is on technology as a driver of transformation in the agri-food industry.

During his talk, he explained how robotics and artificial intelligence are set to play a key role in the agriculture of the future, by improving efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness. As an example, the GreenBot project is clearly demonstrating how technological innovation can be used to respond to the great challenges being faced by this industry.

The project has been developed by a multidisciplinary consortium, with a membership that includes the AGR‑278 Smart Biosystems Laboratory research group at the University of Seville, GMV, TEPRO, PIONEER HiBred Spain SL, and Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de Andalucía. These participants are contributing their academic and scientific knowledge, technological skills, and direct experience with the fabric of production.

The GreenBot project has developed an autonomous robotic system for precision agricultural support, designed to work in the field. The system is based on the uPathWay autonomous robotics platform, and it combines machine vision, artificial intelligence algorithms, and an innovative system for localized application of phytosanitary products. The result is optimized use of resources, reduced environmental impact, and improved crop sustainability.

Having completed its initial testing in real-world environments, GreenBot has been demonstrating its technical and functional feasibility, confirming the potential of automation as a support tool for the agri-food industry, as it continues its transition towards more sustainable and technologically advanced models.
