GMV shares its experience with automation of ROS 2 deployments at ROSCon event in Barcelona

GMV comparte su experiencia en automatización de despliegues ROS 2 en la ROSCon de Barcelona

GMV has participated in the latest edition of ROSCon Spain, which was recently held in Barcelona and organized by the Eurecat technology center, in collaboration with the Open Source Robotics Foundation (OSRF) and PAL Robotics. This annual gathering brings together the community of developers and experts working with the Robot Operating System (ROS), which has become the de facto standard in the field of robotics. At the event, they shared their progress, projects, and experiences in developing applications based on the open-source software.

GMV was represented by Benito Martínez, the company’s Head of Software Architecture for Autonomous Robotics, who gave a presentation entitled “Using Docker to automate ROS 2 deployments: from development to production”. He explained how to automate and simplify the deployment of ROS 2 systems in industrial environments, by using Docker containers and a reproducible, robust, validated strategy.

His presentation covered key issues such as integration of nodes and dependencies, construction of effective containers, and application of good DevSecOps practices to facilitate the transition from development environments to production. By discussing practical examples, reusable tools, and real-life cases, Mr. Martínez demonstrated how these methods allow implementation of scalable, traceable, and sustainable workflows in projects involving complex robotics.

The approach presented by GMV reflects the company’s commitment to technical excellence and knowledge transfer to the ROS community, as well as its interest in contributing to the implementation of more efficient, secure, and scalable processes for developing autonomous systems.
