GMV welcomes the UPM Racing team to its headquarters in Tres Cantos

EquipoUPMRacing

As part of our collaboration with UPM Racing, GMV once again opened the doors of its headquarters in Tres Cantos to the team formed by students from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. With more than a decade of experience in the SAE Formula Student international competition, UPM Racing represents a passion for engineering, innovation, and teamwork.

Throughout the day, the team members got a first-hand look at some of GMV's most innovative projects and solutions. In the Automotive area, they discovered the technologies we develop for connected and autonomous vehicles, as well as the advances we are driving in automated and assisted driving (ADAS), software-defined vehicles (SDV), critical safety systems, cybersecurity, C-ITS and artificial intelligence-based applications. They also learned how we combine these capabilities to offer customized developments and solutions that contribute to safer, more connected and sustainable mobility.

In the field of navigation, the team explored how satellite navigation technologies are driving significant advances in autonomous driving. GMV experts shared the main technical challenges of this type of system and explained how the company's proprietary algorithms enable ever-increasing levels of precision and safety. They also showed the BMW car used for software testing.

The visit ended with a visit to the robotics laboratory and platform-art©, a facility unique in Europe where GMV tests key technologies for space debris removal, maintenance, resupply and in-orbit assembly of complex infrastructures.

Throughout the day, GMV colleagues also had the opportunity to see and learn about the latest prototype of the single-seater car with which the members of UPM Racing have participated in previous editions of the SAE Formula Student competition, as well as their academic project, which covers all aspects related to the design, development, and driving of the formula-type vehicle.

Through this collaboration, which we have maintained for several years, we reaffirm our commitment to young talent, innovation, and the connection between university and industry. Accompanying the UPM Racing team for another year as a premium sponsor is our way of continuing to promote technical excellence, creativity, and the passion for engineering that we share.

More about UPM Racing

UPM Racing was founded within the University Institute for Automotive Research (INSIA) and the UPM School of Industrial Engineering, with the support of INSIA's Master's Degree in Automotive Engineering.

The mission of this initiative is to foster the personal and professional skills of the students who participate in it. The team is made up of around 70 students in their final years at different UPM schools, which are renewed each year, offering new students the opportunity to participate in the project and develop their skills in a real engineering and competition environment.
