GMV is participating in Odin’s Eye, a flagship initiative of the European Commission aimed at providing Europe with an independent early warning capability against aerospace threats, such as ballistic and hypersonic missiles and anti-satellite weapons.

Led by OHB System AG and supported by the European Defence Fund (EDF), Odin’s Eye is the space segment of the PESCO TWISTER initiative, which seeks to enhance surveillance of Europe’s aerospace environment and reduce reliance on non-EU systems. The consortium is composed of more than 40 organizations from 14 EU member states.

GMV plays a key role in defining the ground segment, space situational awareness (SSA) functionalities, decision-making architecture, governance rules, and the development of simulation modules. Following the completion of the initial feasibility study phase, the project is now progressing into its second phase, focused on developing onboard infrared sensors, data processing algorithms, and mission simulators.

Through its participation, GMV strengthens its commitment to Europe’s security and technological sovereignty in a strategic domain such as space defense. At the same time, it continues to grow in the defense and security sector, positioning itself as a key player in the development of critical capabilities for the European Union. In total, GMV has participated in 42 projects under both the EDIDP (European Defence Industrial Development Programme) and the EDF, five of them as the lead contractor.
