General Information

Automated ILS/VOR inspection

Emil is an integrated hardware and software suite for automated ground- and UAS-based inspection of ILS and VOR navigation aids.

The system supports ICAO-compliant inspection campaigns for:

  • ILS localizer,
  • ILS glide slope, and
  • VOR systems, 

within a unified processing, visualization and reporting environment.

Emil software is the operational core of the system, providing:

  • precise GNSS/RTK positioning,
  • automated campaign execution,
  • real-time signal analysis, and
  • post-processing capabilities, 

to support repeatable and operationally efficient navaid inspection campaigns aligned with ICAO Annex 10 Volume I and ICAO Doc 8071 recommendations.

Emil  has been designed to reduce the duration and operational impact of ILS/VOR inspection campaigns while improving measurement repeatability and traceability.

The system supports preventive and corrective maintenance activities by enabling:

  • repeatable measurements over time,
  • automated campaign execution, and
  • rapid post-processing analysis.

Emil  complements conventional flight inspection activities to support:

  • troubleshooting activities,
  • performance trending, and
  • pre-flight inspection verification.

This capability helps reduce additional flight inspection campaigns and minimizes operational downtime and costs.

One-Man Operation

Emil  has been specifically designed to support “One-Man Operation” workflows. The software automatically:

  • configures the ILS/VOR analyzer,
  • loads predefined inspection procedures,
  • guides the operator through GIS-based waypoints,
  • compensates for positioning deviations,
  • and starts/stops data recording automatically.

This minimizes operator workload during campaigns and improves measurement repeatability.
