Both systems, to be developed from the GMV products focusGEO and hifly®, are already being used by Hispasat to operate the other satellites of its fleet. The award of these new developments is further proof of Hispasat’s confidence in and satisfaction with the systems developed by GMV. This new contract makes it 4 satellites now being controlled by hifly® and 5 by focusGEO. Amazonas 3 will be launched in 2013 by an Ariane 5 rocket from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana. Built by Space Systems/Loral on an LS 1300 platform, the new Hispasat satellite will provide thousands of users on the American continent with a wide range of advanced broadband services, such as high speed internet and interactive services, to meet this region’s growing demand for the information society, regardless of the geographical situation. Through land lines this 'would be very difficult to develop'.
