PRO-ACT ePDR 0

The Laboratory for Analysis and Architecture of Systems (LAAS-CNRS) facilities in Toulouse (France) hosted a concurrent engineering session on last July 16 and 17 related to the early preliminary design review (ePDR) of PROACT European project.

The milestone was focussed on the identification of the subsystems interfaces and the preliminary design of the whole system for PRO-ACT project (Planetary RObots Deployed for Assembly and Construction Tasks).

PRO-ACT is one of the 5 projects selected for European-Commission funding in the second phase of the Strategic Research Cluster (SRC) on Space Robotics, within H2020 European Commission's biggest robotics program.

This project, led by SAS where GMV participates within a 9-partner consortium, has the main goal of designing, developing and validating a Multi-Robot and cooperative system to be used in future exploration missions (e.g. Moon/Mars) for a human settlement.

In order to achieve this ambitious challenge, OG11/PRO-ACT must integrate the outcomes of the previous OG1-5 projects of the first PERASPERA call, where GMV was the coordinator of OG1/ESROSCOS, OG2/ERGO and OG6/FACILITATORS.

After completing an interactive and productive concurrent engineering session, the whole consortium recognised the success of the milestone, strengthening a greater understanding of the different subsystems to be integrated as well as the right path followed for achieving a successful Preliminary Design Review (PDR) to be held by the end of October in the presence of the PSA, ESA and EC.
