GMV participates in the ICEX Conference on Infrastructure and Mobility in Uruguay

On 17 May, Montevideo hosted the 2026 ICEX Conference on Transportation and Mobility Infrastructure in Uruguay, an event aimed at Spanish companies involved in transportation and urban mobility. The event, organized by ICEX (the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade) and the Spanish Economic and Commercial Office in Montevideo, served as a meeting point for the sector’s key players and as an opportunity to explore potential collaborations on current and future projects in Uruguay.

At a pivotal moment for the country’s infrastructure development, Uruguay plans to transform urban transportation in its capital’s metropolitan area, boost connectivity through new rail projects, and modernize its highways to strengthen the national road network. To achieve these goals, the country continues to foster an environment that is conducive to international investment, based on institutional accessibility and legal certainty.

GMV participated in the event alongside other Spanish companies through a panel discussion on “Urban Transformation in Montevideo.” Iker Estébanez, director of International Business Development for Intelligent Transportation Systems at GMV, shared his vision for how digitalization and innovation can help develop more efficient, sustainable, and connected transportation systems.

The event was an opportunity for GMV to learn firsthand about the initiatives that will transform transportation in Uruguay, as well as to share its experience developing technological solutions for more efficient and sustainable mobility.
