GMV makes strong showing at latest Space Engineering Conference

GMV made a strong showing at the 6th Space Engineering Conference, organized by the Space Committee of the Spanish Engineering Institute (IIE) from June 23 to 25, further reinforcing its position as one of the leading players in Spain’s space industry.

The company also took part as a platinum sponsor of the event, which brought together representatives from across the space community to discuss the key technological, industrial, and operational challenges that will shape the sector’s future.

During the conference, GMV experts took part in several of the event’s most prominent sessions. Miguel Ángel Molina, Deputy General Manager of EST Space Systems at GMV, participated in the opening panel discussion, “Critical technologies for the future,” which explored the strategic capabilities set to drive the development of the space industry in the years ahead. Fernando Gandía Abellán, Head of the Robotics and Onboard Autonomy Division within EST Space Systems at GMV, took part in a panel discussion on the technological challenges of lunar exploration. Meanwhile, María Antonia Ramos, Head of Policy and Business Development for Space Traffic Management within EST Space Systems at GMV, joined the “Space surveillance and traffic management” panel, which focused on the challenges associated with the safe and sustainable use of Earth’s orbital environment. In addition, Alberto Águeda, Director of Space Surveillance and Traffic Management at EST Space Systems, delivered a presentation on space sustainability and security.

GMV’s technical contribution to the conference was particularly noteworthy, with close to twenty technical paper presentations and co-presentations. These papers covered key areas including Earth observation, ground operations and ground segments, satellite navigation, space surveillance and tracking, secure communications, artificial intelligence applied to satellite data processing, and the promotion of systems engineering in educational and organizational settings.
