The campaign took place at the facilities of FOI (Swedish Defence Research Agency), organized by the HiTDOC team, and brought together the four consortia participating in the Tech Challenge: Aidedex, Convoy, Determine, and TICHE.The main goal of this campaign was to test the technological progress made since the first edition, held in 2024, and to continue driving the development of innovative solutions against hidden threats such as landmines or improvised explosive devices (IEDs).During the first week, the teams worked independently on integration tasks and internal testing. This phase was crucial to verify the interoperability of the different system components and resolve technical adjustments before the official trials. The second week focused on the official tests, following a format similar to the previous campaign but with a renewed approach. This time, the evaluations prioritized early detection and subsequent classification, as opposed to the threat-avoidance trials carried out in 2024. In addition, new scenarios and operational challenges were introduced, raising the bar for the systems under evaluation. The data collected during the campaign will help the consortia improve their solutions in the next stages of the project. Two additional evaluation campaigns are planned over the next two years. CONVOY: Artificial Intelligence and Tactical Cloud for the Defense of the FutureThe CONVOY project (ClOud iNtelligent explosiVe detectiOn sYstem), coordinated by GMV, brings together ten leading entities from five European countries. Its objective is to develop a multi-sensor, multi-platform system capable of detecting and neutralizing hidden threats through the use of artificial intelligence and cloud technologies. The system integrates eight different sensing technologies deployed across a network of autonomous ground and aerial platforms, together with a manned ground vehicle. All information is processed through the CONVOY Tactical Cloud, enabling data fusion and decision-making in critical environments. The project’s approach also promotes interoperability and scalability thanks to its open architecture and the integration of autonomous platforms with a command and control system that includes BMS capabilities and a dismounted soldier system (DSS). GMV’s participation in CONVOY strengthens its position as a technological leader in the European defense sector.
