The tenth edition of the “European Mission Operations Ground Segment Software & Architecture Workshop” (ESAW), an event organized by the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) with the support of the Operations Directorate of the European Space Agency (ESA), was held in Darmstadt, Germany on 15 and 16 April to present the latest trends in Earth exploration and define the future of software and architecture for mission operations.

This year’s theme was “Platforms for exploring Earth and beyond – Towards a smart and resilient ground segment” and brought together more than 250 participants and 40 speakers from companies, institutions, and space agencies, who had the opportunity to exchange ideas and continue driving innovation in the space sector.

GMV played a key role in the event with numerous papers, presentations, and technical sessions, sharing its work and perspectives with the rest of the space community. Representing the company, GMV’s experts from different sectors addressed a wide range of topics, such as the evolution of ground-segment platforms and the challenges they face in dual-use missions; data archiving and AI ecosystems; real-time mission planning, scheduling, and operations; AI assistants, predictive operations, and smart engineering; and constellation automation and orchestration, among others.

ESAW concluded after two days in which attendees had the opportunity to share their experience and research, contributing to the development of the space sector through collaboration among the various stakeholders in the ecosystem.
