Business and technology experts came together to explore the potential of quantum technologies to address complex challenges across a range of industrial sectors.Representing GMV, Ana María Sánchez, Head of Quantum Computing, participated in a panel discussion entitled “Quantum for Industry” alongside Ricardo Enríquez of Repsol, Gorka Unamuno of Multiverse Computing, and Irene López de Vallejo of Tecnalia. During the discussion, participants shared their experience in developing and applying quantum solutions to real-world business use cases, addressing both the opportunities available today and the challenges that continue to limit large-scale adoption. The main focus was on applications for process optimization and advanced simulation, as well as hybrid quantum-classical approaches that can deliver value in complex industrial environments. The speakers agreed that, while quantum computing is still at an early stage of technological maturity, its continued evolution has the potential to transform fields such as logistics, energy planning, industrial optimization, and secure communications. The session also provided an opportunity to present the latest progress of Q-MIND, a GMV-led initiative endowed with a budget of more than €5.3 million to accelerate the transfer of quantum computing and communications technologies from research environments to practical applications in business and industry.Q-MIND brings together a public-private consortium comprising BBVA, Repsol, QDynamics, QoolNet, Inspiration-Q, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Tecnalia, the Complutense University of Madrid, and the Technical University of Madrid. Together, they combine scientific, technological, and industrial expertise to drive the development of quantum solutions with tangible real-world impact.Q-MIND is co-funded by the European Union through European Funds under the framework of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), as part of the Community of Madrid program promoted by the Regional Ministry of Education, Science, and Universities.
