The future of the space sector takes center stage at “Space: The New Frontier”

GMV was among the featured companies at “Space: The New Frontier”, an event hosted on October 14 by the Spanish business daily elEconomista to examine the strategic role of the space sector on the global stage.

The event opened with remarks from Juan Carlos Cortés, director of the Spanish Space Agency (AEE), who highlighted the sector’s strong growth potential in both Spain and Europe as a whole. In the panel discussion that followed, Enrique Fraga, general manager of Space Systems at GMV, reflected on the industry’s most recent shifts and the new challenges that will shape its future.

Fraga emphasized that space is both a strategic domain and a new frontier yet to be explored. In his assessment of the situation in Europe, he underscored the importance of space sovereignty and the need for Europe to step up, strengthen its competitiveness, and target public investment more effectively.

The panel wrapped up with a discussion of space sustainability, particularly space traffic management and in-orbit priorities, as well as the role Spanish industry can play in European programs tied to future missions to the Moon and Mars.
