The value of investment in defence

On Wednesday November 4, the Cotec Foundation for Innovation, with sponsorship from the Spanish Space Agency (AEE), will present the findings of its Security, Defence, and Technology Working Group at the CDTI headquarters in Madrid. The group’s work has led to the development of the Defence Investment Value Pyramid, a tool designed to support reflection, deliberation, and evaluation of investment decisions in this field, both before and after they are made. Luis Fernando Álvarez-Gascón Pérez, General Manager of Secure e-Solutions at GMV, contributed to the working group’s report on behalf of the company.

The event will feature Amparo Valcárcel, Secretary of State for Defence; Juan Cruz Cigudosa, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation, and Universities; Jokin Aperribay, CEO of SAPA; and Cristina Garmendia, President of Cotec.

Six panel discussions will examine the impact of defence investment from multiple perspectives: knowledge, security, geopolitics, industry, infrastructure, and the economy. Álvarez-Gascón will join the panel on geopolitics alongside Enrique Fernández Ambel, Director of Security and Planning at the Spanish Space Agency, and Juan Tomás Hernani, CEO of Satlantis.
