Néstor Zarraoa López

Néstor Zarraoa holds a PhD in Mathematics from the Complutense University of Madrid. After ten years dedicated to research in the field of space geodesy at research centers in Spain, Norway and Germany, he joined GMV in 1997.

Until 2011, Néstor held several positions within GMV’s Satellite Navigation business unit, covering both technical and project management responsibilities as well as organizational leadership roles, including Division Head. During this period, he was closely involved in key European satellite navigation programmes such as EGNOS and Galileo.

In 2011, he became Director of GMV’s Software Engineering Department, providing specialized software development and validation services across the organization, together with systems engineering, hardware engineering and RAMS services.

Following the award in 2018 of the Galileo Control Segment contract, and after playing a significant role in the bidding process, Néstor was appointed head of the business unit created to execute this strategic project, contributing to consolidating GMV’s position within the select group of Galileo prime contractors.

As part of GMV’s organizational restructuring in 2022, he assumed responsibility for a new cross-functional department within the Navigation sector, aimed at centralizing and harmonizing contract management activities with customers, subcontractors and partners, while also supporting the integrated management of procurement and subcontracting processes during both bid and execution phases.

In 2026, this department became a corporate department under his leadership, providing services across the entire organization, with particular focus on the aerospace and defence sectors.
