The selected candidate will be taken on as RAMS engineer (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety) to work on projects for the European Space Agency, among other clients.
GMV’s projects cover a wide range of areas within the space sector and other critical sectors like aeronautics, all of which call for high reliability, high availability and are safety critical. Examples of projects on which GMV’s RAMS engineer might participate are the design and development of navigation systems (Galileo, EGNOS), launchers and rockets, satellite control centers. Other safety-critical GMV business lines calling for the participation of a RAMS engineer are autonomous driving, aeronautics systems and intelligent transportation systems.
In these projects the RAMS engineer is responsible for pinpointing system weaknesses by means of a thoroughgoing analysis of product design and specifications, identifying bottlenecks and proposing improvements.
Analyses of failure modes, fault trees, risks, etc, call for high data-analysis and characterization skills. A good dash of imagination and creativity is also ideally required, enabling the candidate to carry out the right analyses in each case, pinpoint product weaknesses and predict their failure behavior.
