A platform to achieve a Precision Agriculture
GMV made a presentation at the Seminar of Jaspersoft about wineo platform. A comprehensive platform of precision agriculture that combines multiple technologies; IoT, Big Data, Fleet Management and Earth Observation, to meet the different needs that arise in modern agriculture (from management of events related to crop to the route planning of agricultural machinery).
Ricardo de Castro García, Software Architect at GMV Secure e-Solutions, presented wineo as a valid alternative to traditional agriculture, combining mathematical modeling with automatic analysis of satellite images to build mathematical models to quantify in different variables the physiological state of the harvest.
During the presentation, Ricardo has identified different areas: IoT with the sensors used to capture the different agro-climatic variables, Big Data for storage and construction of mathematical models depending on the crop, Earth Observation by analysis of satellite images, Business Intelligence for processing information and web access tool to it and GIS technologies for positioning each of the plots associated with the user using the platform.
He also stressed the direct and collateral benefits of it. Savings in production costs and thus improve crop profitability and considerably reducing the carbon footprint of the crop through the application of chemicals (fertilizers and fungicides) only in areas where it is really needed.
Finally, he made a brief demonstration of the Web application scorecard of the platform and its GIS capabilities along with the explanation of the underlying architecture.
It has been selected this solution for its effective use of Jasper Server tool TIBCO to embed advanced reporting within a web tool, getting not only a nice look and feel and UX care, but significantly increases maintainability area of Business Intelligence platform.
In short, GMV has had the opportunity to use once again the TIBCO solution to enrich different BI tools with an advanced covering all the necessary areas: dashboards, traditional reporting, data visualization and adhoc views. The result has been a perfect integration between application and BI in a simple way.
