General Manager of Secure eSolutions
Luis Fernando Álvarez-Gascón graduated as a higher aeronautics engineer from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 1987 and then took a postgraduate Executive MBA in the Business Institute (Instituto de Empresa) and a PDG (Executive Management Program) from the IESE Business School.
He joined GMV in 1986, working as project engineer and project manager in areas such as systems engineering, systems simulation and satellite navigation. Later on, he oriented his career towards commercial, business development and marketing activities, undertaking various responsibilities until he became Strategic Marketing Director of GMV group. In 2001 he became General Manager at GMV Secure eSolutions, leading the company’s worldwide business of secure solutions for major telecommunications, banking and insurance firms, public authorities, healthcare, industry and other sectors.
He has worked actively in several professional associations: he is currently President of the R&D, Internationalization and Entrepreneurship area of the Spanish Association of Electronic, IT, Telecommunications and Digital-Contents Firms (Asociación de Empresas de la Electrónica, Tecnologías de la Información, Telecomunicaciones y Contenidos Digitales: AMETIC) and Vice-President of the R&D Commission of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (Confederación Española de Organizaciones Empresariales: CEOE), Vice-President of the think tank called Foro de Empresas Innovadoras, President of the Information Systems Governance European Club and member of HITEC España. In the past he has been Secretary of the Spanish Association of Space Sector Industries (Asociación Española de Industrias del Sector Espacial: Proespacio) and member of the Executive Committee of the Technology Circle for Defense and Security.
