Strategic Plan 2024-2026 for ITS

Share

GMV’s 2024-2026 strategic plan for its work in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) industry focuses on solidifying the company’s position as a global leader in this type of system.

This plan is one of the Strategic R&D Plans co‑funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the regional government of Castile and León, through the Castile and León Institute for Business Competitiveness (ICE).

The strategy being implemented with GMV’s Strategic Plan 2024-2026 is a continuation of the highly innovative approach that characterized its previous plans (2018-2020 and 2021-2023). This is a strategy based on making significant investments in a set of products and solutions, with specifications that reflect the needs of the market.

ITS systems represent a significant contribution to the management of public transportation, both now and in the future. This is also taking place in a context where the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) is playing a fundamental role in revolutionizing transportation, and it is also transforming the way in which intelligent transportation systems are designed and operated. With significant developments occurring to machine learning algorithms, processing of big data, and advanced sensors, AI will be enabling further progress towards mobility that is not only safer, but also more efficient and sustainable.

Objectives of the strategic plan

  1. Development of new types of onboard equipment, as part of a family of products focused on advanced ITS solutions for public transportation management. This equipment will include systems for service control and management, passenger information, communications, advanced driving assistance, and mobility solutions, as well as components for the automotive industry. The plan will also cover further progress on developing new versions of the Deepsy platform. This is used for the hardware abstraction layer for firmware, and it has been designed to support the latest generation of onboard equipment and ITS devices.

  1. Evolution of the ITS Suite software platform, including its back-office and onboard elements, with incorporation of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices. This evolution will help solidify the position that ITS Suite has gained as a strategic tool for public transportation companies. It facilitates optimization of their operations through advanced functionalities (including predictive and generative AI), which have been designed to improve the performance and sustainability of any service.

ITS Suite is also conceived as a platform for the connected industry, and it represents a qualitative leap forward compared to the technological approaches previously applied to ITS. It has other characteristics that set it apart as well: integration of heterogeneous data, interoperability of systems, real-time analysis and processing, data security and privacy, scalability, operational efficiency, and improved accessibility. Additionally, it fosters a more dynamic and collaborative business ecosystem, aligning with the open market model.

All of this is allowing GMV to further solidify its position as a leader in advanced technological solutions for mobility and public transportation, thanks to its commitment to quality and solid combination of innovation and experience. This track record has made it possible for GMV to participate in major projects in Spain and internationally, strengthening its presence in strategic markets and contributing added value to key public transportation initiatives. In a constantly changing environment, GMV continues to evolve and anticipate new challenges in the transportation industry, while promoting a more open, efficient, and secure mobility ecosystem.
