7th industry conference on port security
On November 4th, Manuel Gómez Langley, GMV’s Business Partner for Digital Public Services - Critical Infrastructure, will be giving a presentation at the 7th Industry Conference on Port Security, entitled “Data as a driver of the digital economy and its protection against cyber threats”.
He will be discussing how Smart Ports are becoming established as key hubs for the data economy, and highlighting the importance of information governance and protection, as essential elements for enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of port systems.
He will also analyze the new risks arising from the use of artificial intelligence (AI), and explain the need to implement AI governance mechanisms to ensure that its use is ethical, safe, and traceable. His presentation will be focused on strengthening the security of digital systems used in the port industry, such as port community systems (PCS), port management systems (PMS), and maritime single windows (MSW), and on protecting the critical data that these systems are used to manage, in view of the growing threat of cybercrime and attacks against operators of essential services.
In summary, he will be explaining how progress towards smart and resilient ports must be accompanied by comprehensive cybersecurity strategies and good data governance practices, to protect data as the real driver of digital transformation in the port industry.
