On November 14, the Edefa Group organized an event at the Polytechnic University of Madrid on the future of the Battle Tank. The conference aimed to debate the challenges and needs of this system, considered the central element of ground operations in current and future operational environments, and highlight the Spanish industry's capacity for possible future participation in the French-German program to develop the MGCS (Main Ground Combat System) tank.

Ricardo Sáenz, GMV's Director of Defense and Security Programs, was a speaker at the panel on the capabilities of the Spanish defense industry. During his talk, he highlighted crucial technologies for the MGCS such as the resilient PNT capability (position, navigation, and timing) as an enabler of collaborative combat, MUM-T (manned-unmanned teaming), and operations with unmanned ground and airborne systems, all of which are essential for the development of this strategic program.

As part of the 2023 round of the European Defense Fund, GMV is participating in the FMBTech (Future Main Battle Tank Technologies) project, which aims to progress in technology to boost the effectiveness of battle tanks on the battlefield. GMV's role in this project, launched in November this year, includes major participation in the technologies mentioned above such as PNT and MUM-T, the definition of the system-of-systems concept, and the use of artificial intelligence to support decision-making.

GMV has a soundtrack record in the development of ground system solutions, especially the ISNAV family of PNT solutions deployed in the VCR 8x8 and in the modernization of the army's M109 and 155/52; the ARGUS system, developed by the UGV command and control within the EDIDP IMUGS project, and the TALOS system for artillery command and control.
