The event brought together institutional representatives and aerospace experts to examine the implications of the growing number of satellites and space debris, and to address these challenges through internationally coordinated action. The workshop also served as a platform to raise awareness of the impact of increasing space congestion, including the risk of damage to satellites and the disruption of critical services linked to communications and navigation. It highlighted the need for joint research and development in areas such as space debris tracking and space weather monitoring. Discussions ultimately centered on a shared objective: to establish an ongoing forum for dialog and cooperation among agencies, institutions, and companies involved in the sector.GMV took part in the workshop through contributions from María del Mar Conforto, Flight Dynamics Project Manager, who presented GMV’s work in knowing, tracking and managing the space environment, and co-led a hands-on exercise for participants together with UNOOSA.During its participation, GMV examined the role of high-fidelity data in orbital safety and demonstrated—through the study of sensors and processing techniques—how SSA provides the clarity needed to identify potential risks and ensure long-term orbital integrity. The program concluded with an interactive simulation in which participants took on the roles of different actors within the space ecosystem, working through a range of scenarios and testing their coordination and decision-making skills, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of cooperation in ensuring space safety.
