Miguel Romay holds a degree in Advanced Aeronautical Engineering from the Department of Advanced Aeronautical Engineering at Madrid Polytechnic University.

He joined GMV in 1987, after working briefly for the company Técnicas Reunidas. In the early years of his career, he worked as a project engineer and as a project manager. In 1988, he was transferred to the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC), where he worked on projects involving precise orbit determination for a variety of space missions, and he also provided support for launching of non‑geostationary satellites into orbit. During this period, he served as the coordinator for GMV’s team at the ESOC. In 1995, he returned to GMV’s offices in Tres Cantos near Madrid, and after working briefly in the company’s flight dynamics division, he joined the global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) unit. There he served as head of the Galileo division, where he collaborated on definition and development of one of Europe’s most ambitious space projects. In 2004, he became manager of the GNSS business unit, and in 2022 he was appointed as general manager of GMV’s new Satellite Navigation Systems sector, reporting directly to the group’s general manager. In this position he leads a team of more than 500 engineers, who work at the 7 international subsidiaries where GMV carries out its space-related activities.
