GMV was an exhibitor at the 2021 edition of UNVEX, the largest event in Spain for unmanned systems. Following appropriate health measures, this sixth edition was able to be held in person at the Gaiás Center Museum in City of Culture at Santiago de Compostela, Spain, on July 7-9. IDS is responsible for organizing this initiative, which gathers the latest developments in this sector related to infrastructure inspection, environmental protection, search and rescue, emergencies, security and defense.

GMV has vast experience in the area of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), a market in constant growth. In this edition, the company displayed its latest developments for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems. The first unmanned platforms highlighted were Seeker and Passer, designed and developed by GMV and Aurea Avionics. Seeker is one of the most effective systems in its segment, providing real-time video images in both the visible and the thermal spectrum. It represents a qualitative step forward, facilitating joint operations between troops and systems, thanks to the digitization of the new architecture of ground stations that enable this RPAS to be integrated with the NATO-standard command centers.Passer, meanwhile, is a multirotor vehicle also designed to obtain critical information on the environment in ISR operations. This quadcopter is equipped with an optical zoom that provides real-time video images. Both Seeker and Passer are systems developed with Spanish technology, without ITAR restrictions.

In the area of JISR (Joint Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance), GMV also presented the latest versions of the CSD-SIERRA and IRIS systems, both designed to exploit and distribute data from unmanned systems. CDS-SIERRA was developed as part of the SAPIIEN system within the framework of NATO's MAJIIC (Multisensor Aerospace /Ground Joint ISR Interoperability Coalition) project. IRIS was created as part of the RAPAZ program for the Spanish Ministry of Defense's Directorate General of Weapons and Material (DGAM).

Finally, GMV Defense and Security Programs Director Ricardo Sáenz participated in the UNVEX block of presentations on ground applications. His presentation covered the company's capabilities in command and control systems (C2) for the area of unmanned ground vehicles (UGV).

The company is currently working on the iMUGS project (Integrated Modular Unmanned Ground System), financed by the European Commission within the framework of the EDIDP 2019-2020 program. The purpose of iMUGS is to create a scalable architecture valid for application in manned and unmanned vehicles that can be used to standardize European air and ground systems. GMV contributes its experience as coordinator of the C2 and C4ISR interoperability component. GMV is dedicated to developing this capability in C2 systems for UGVs as part of the DGAM's new ESCORPION program focused on evaluating UGV prototypes developed by Spanish industry.
