First Andalusian Congress on Quantum Technologies

On December 11th and 12th, GMV participated in the First Andalusian Congress on Quantum Technologies, which was organized by Fidesol as part of the QUORUM Network, and held in Granada, Spain.

The QUORUMSPAIN project, with financial support from Spain’s Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) and the European Union, is promoting the creation of an advanced quantum technologies ecosystem in the Spanish region of Andalusia.

At the event, GMV took part in a roundtable discussion entitled “Quantum Computing and Business Use: Chimera or Reality?”, where our colleague Helen Urgelles explained the vision, experiences, and use cases that reflect GMV’s commitment to developing these technologies and real-world applications for them.

She emphasized that “quantum computing is not a universal solution, nor is it intended to replace conventional computing. Its greatest value will be found in selective, strategic applications, to address specific problems where our current technologies are beginning to reach their limits. It is not about being dedicated to quantum computing as a new trend. Instead, we need to be working from this time forward on areas where its capabilities can make a difference and have a medium-term and long-term impact, such as in the fields of optimization and security.”

“Right now, the real value is found not just in performance, but in the ability to understand these technologies, build teams, and be prepared to integrate quantum computing in an effective way once it has reached maturity.”
