Organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs, this event will bring together industry representatives, policymakers, security professionals, academic institutions, and operators of critical infrastructure. They will be discussing the latest security threats and challenges, along with how research and innovation taking place in the European Union can be used to address them.The main theme of the 2025 event is “Boosting security through EU‑based innovation”. Five thematic roundtables will provide opportunities to discuss approaches to achieving the identified objectives, while also ensuring European strategic autonomy.In addition, the EU’s Commissioner for Home Affairs, Magnus Brunner, will be conducting his first Implementation Dialogue on the challenges facing the EU’s security industry, in terms of its competitiveness and the need for security-related innovation. This dialogue will be focused on identifying ways to improve, simplify, and facilitate implementation of the EU’s policy agenda for security research and innovation.In addition to these discussions, the event will also feature an exhibition area, with more than 50 stands presenting solutions developed in the context of programs such as Horizon Europe, the Internal Security Fund, and the Border Management and Visa Instrument. There will also be participation by institutional bodies such as the European Commission, European Research Executive Agency, and Justice and Home Affairs Agencies. The exhibitions on display at the stands will be supplemented by small-scale demonstrations, which will be taking place in a dedicated area during both days of the event.At GMV’s stand, the company will be presenting a demonstration on the DRIVER+ project (Driving Innovation in Crisis Management for European Resilience).The Security Research Event will culminate with a ceremony to present the Security Innovation Award, which has the aim of highlighting the most outstanding success stories for EU-funded security innovations and their uptake in the market.
