To mark International Asteroid Day, GMV and the Tres Cantos City Council are organizing an outreach event on planetary defense on Monday, June 30. The event will take place at the Adolfo Suárez Cultural Center starting at 10:30 a.m.

The aim of the event is to raise public awareness about the risk of near-Earth asteroid impacts and to showcase the scientific and technological advances aimed at detecting, tracking, and mitigating potential space-borne threats. This observance, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly, commemorates the Tunguska impact, which occurred in 1908 in Siberia and is considered the largest such event in recent history.

During the event, which is free to attend until full capacity is reached, GMV will present its involvement in the European Space Agency’s Hera and RAMSES missions—two key initiatives in the international effort to develop autonomous navigation technologies and asteroid deflection systems.
