Workshop on “Lunar Construction: Challenges and Opportunities”

On Thursday, January 29th, GMV will be participating in the workshop entitled “Lunar Construction: Challenges and Opportunities”. This event has been organized by the Spanish Association of Road, Canal, and Port Engineers (CICCP) and will take place at the association’s headquarters in Madrid.

The gathering will bring together academic, scientific, and industry experts to analyze the main technological challenges and opportunities associated with the development of infrastructure on the Moon, in a context marked by ongoing progress with space exploration and the goal of achieving a sustainable human presence beyond Earth. The workshop will provide a forum for discussing the ways in which knowledge related to civil engineering and advanced materials and systems can be applied to extraterrestrial environments.

Mariella Graziano, GMV’s Manager of Flight Segment Strategy and Business Development for Space Systems EST will be participating in the roundtable discussion entitled “Challenges and Opportunities”, to share the company’s perspectives regarding the role of space technology, strategic planning, and advanced systems for developing lunar infrastructure.

The workshop’s program also covers a range of topics including lunar geology, use of synthetic materials, the feasibility of mining and transportation infrastructure on the Moon, and the time horizon for these developments. The roundtable discussion will be moderated by José Luis Abia Pascual from the company TYPSA, and in addition to GMV, the other participants will include representatives from the companies Occam Space and Acciona, as well as an expert from the Spanish Advanced Scientific Research Council’s Geosciences Institute (CSIC-IGEO).
