PRISMA
The project known as PRISMA, which stands for Intelligent Perception and Response for Driving Safety through Adaptive Monitoring, is a European R&D initiative focused on achieving safer, more autonomous, and more sustainable mobility. Led by a multidisciplinary consortium of technology firms – including GMV, which is contributing its expertise in artificial intelligence and quantum computing – the project is developing an intelligent, adaptive virtual assistant that can understand a driver’s condition and a vehicle’s environment, to anticipate risks and respond in a personalized way. The PRISMA project is combining technologies that include machine vision, multimodal synthetic data, advanced sensing, and quantum computing, with the aim of optimizing the robustness and safety of driving models.
With funding from Spain’s Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) and additional support from the country’s Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities as part of the 2024 Science and Innovation Missions program, the PRISMA project will be redefining roadway safety and further solidifying the technological leadership of Spain and the EU in relation to intelligent mobility. Additional objectives of the project include reducing accidents caused by distractions or fatigue, improving sustainability through energy efficiency in electric vehicles, and encouraging responsible innovation by integrating ethics, privacy, and cybersecurity by design.
