AgrarIA
The AgrarIA project, led by GMV and made up of a consortium of 24 public and private organizations, is part of the Spain Digital 2025 agenda and the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy. Its aim is to research and apply artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0 technologies to transform the Spanish agri-food sector into a more technological, innovative, sustainable, and energy-efficient model that contributes to reducing the carbon footprint. Funded by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service through the 2021 Artificial Intelligence R&D Missions Program, the project is driving the creation of the AgrarIA platform. This platform will integrate the different processes of the agricultural value chain, including production, processing, and distribution, within an advanced and modular computing environment.
AgrarIA addresses real use cases in the Spanish agri-food sector, which includes more than 900,000 farms and 31,000 companies, most of them SMEs. Using solutions based on AI, collaborative robotics, quantum computing, and digital twins, the project seeks to improve the sector’s productivity, sustainability, and competitiveness while advancing its digital and environmental transformation. In doing so, it aims to strengthen the national economy and promote new business models linked to smart agriculture, positioning Spain as a leader in applying advanced technologies to sustainable agri-food development.
