Spain’s space sector: challenges and opportunities for the 2020s

In recent years the world space sector has undergone swingeing changes. This has called for a rethink of the capabilities of Europe’s space sector, in which Spain is included. Humankind’s next great challenge is human exploration of Mars … and Spain’s institutions and companies have to be in the mix.

On the upcoming 21 March the Committee of the Spanish Engineering Institute (Comité del Instituto de la Ingeniería de España: IIE) will be holding a conference under the title “Spain’s space sector: challenges and opportunities for the 2020s”.

The aim of this get-together is for senior executives of Spain’s commercial satellite-based communications companies (Hispasat), satellite and launcher manufacturers (Airbus) and world leaders in space applications and skills (GMV) to offer their view of the future of a sector that has been identified time and again as strategically important by national authorities.

Jorge Potti, General Manager of GMV’s space sector and Vice President of the Space Committee of the Spanish Association of Space, Aeronautics and Defense Technology Companies (Asociación Española de Empresas Tecnológicas de Defensa, Aeronáutica y Espacio: TEDAE), will be offering a chat on “The future of satellite-navigation and space-monitoring and -exploration programs in the next decade”.
