This technological solution took center stage at the third “Sumamos datos, multiplicamos conocimiento” (Adding data, multiplying knowledge) conference, where different use cases developed with real patient data provided by various hospital units were presented. These cases illustrate the potential of the European Health Data Space (EEDS) to improve the health of the population. The event, promoted and held at Vall d'Hebron under the slogan “The Journey of Data: The European Challenge at Vall d'Hebron,” was attended by researchers, patients, industry representatives, regulators, and the GMV team. During the conference, it was highlighted how the technology facilitated by the multinational technology company GMV allows for the ethical, secure, and interoperable use of healthcare data, turning it into a key tool for advancing biomedical research and improving healthcare.Practical simulation of the European Health Data SpaceDuring the event, several use cases with considerable impact on public health were presented, among which the following stand out:Intensive Care Unit of Vall d'Hebron: identification of predictors of acute renal failure (ARF).Merck: statistical analysis of prevalence, diagnosis, and hospitalization in oncology patients to optimize the design of clinical trials.Patient Organization Platform: comparative analysis of the impact of chronic diseases on mental health.Pfizer: observational trial on non-muscle invasive bladder cancer, focusing on mortality and readmission rates after surgery. All these analyses have been developed with structured data provided by the hospital, in strict compliance with current regulations and the principles of anonymization and data protection.GMV technology for an interoperable and secure ecosystemGMV has led the technological implementation of VHTeDades by integrating advanced IBM solutions, applying its experience in artificial intelligence, data governance and secure processing environments. The platform serves not only the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, but also its research centers: the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) and the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO).This solution allows scientists, clinicians, and external researchers to work on anonymized data in a controlled and reliable environment. GMV's team, led by Rubén Villoria and Laura Tur of the Digital Health unit, gave training and support to the analysts during the days leading up to the event, facilitating proper execution of real use cases with the platform.Commitment to innovation and ethics in the use of dataWith this project GMV reaffirms its commitment to technological innovation in healthcare, promoting a model based on interoperability, security and data-processing ethics. This type of initiative demonstrates that it is possible to harmonize the progress of biomedical research with responsible and transparent management of health information.GMV's participation is based on a solid track record in the development and implementation of intelligent digital platforms capable of processing and analyzing huge volumes of data using artificial intelligence. From clinical decision support systems to secure and governed data environments, GMV has led key digital transformation projects both in Spain and at the European level. In this sense, the VHTeDades platform represents a step forward towards a smarter, more sustainable, and citizen-focused healthcare ecosystem, where data becomes a driver of knowledge, prevention, and clinical innovation.
