The defense and space industry gathered on December 17 at the event “Navigation, Positioning and Timing: The Importance of Robust PNT in the Spanish Armed Forces,” organized by Grupo Edefa at the School of Telecommunications Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

GMV took part in this forum to discuss the added value for the Armed Forces of having robust Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) systems. In the current context, the more digitalized and precise systems become, the greater the impact of their degradation and, consequently, the greater their dependence on reliable PNT signals.

Manuel Toledo, GMV’s Director of User Segment and PRS for Satellite Navigation Systems, took part in the roundtable featuring the Spanish space industry, which focused on technological advances in the PNT field. In his remarks, Manuel highlighted robust navigation solutions for Galileo’s Public Regulated Service (PRS) and for future European programs, as well as use cases of the technology developed for PRS.

The dual use of PNT technologies, the establishment of a consensual working framework, the acceleration of timelines, overcoming structural barriers to technological development and innovation, and the use of hybrid architectures were among the topics addressed during the event. Under the combat cloud paradigm, reliable PNT signals are essential to ensure the effectiveness, protection, and coordination of land, naval, air, and space operations against cyberattacks, interference, and electronic warfare.
