During this event, GMV showcased its uPathWay autonomous mobile robotics solution, as a successful case study with applications in both industry and agriculture. Miguel Hormigo, Manager of GMV’s Industry sector, gave a presentation on the advantages of the solution’s software. He explained that it is delivered to customers in the form of packets, which lets them avoid the development steps for solutions of this type, so that they can put their focus directly on automatic, remote execution of specific tasks that can provide value for their business. The uPathWay solution is based on cloud robotics, which applies artificial intelligence as the technology used to control the system, and 5G as a way to transmit large quantities of data and control commands. The solution gives customers the ability to control the highly versatile robot’s movements in the outdoors, so that it can perform a wide range of tasks such as inspecting an industrial process, harvesting agricultural products, or determining whether a particular food crop is ripe as it grows in the fields. As part of the project known as AgrarIA, this technology is being applied through a platform, to test its performance during tasks involving transport, logistics, manipulation, maintenance, and inspection, all within the value chain of the food and agriculture industry. The aim is to develop these new solutions and innovative products as a way to spearhead digital transformation in the industry, while allowing Spain to maintain its position as a world leader in terms of productivity, competitiveness, interoperability, and sustainability. The AgrarIA project is being funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, specifically through the R&D Missions in Artificial Intelligence Program of the State Secretariat for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA) (file no. MIA.2021.M01.0004). This funding is part of the country’s Recovery, Resilience, and Transformation Plan.
