GMV joins business delegation meeting with Ukrainian president during official visit to Spain

On November 18, GMV took part in the delegation of Spanish defense-sector companies that met with the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and his own delegation during his official visit to Spain. The meeting, organized by the Ministry of Defense, was intended to strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote the joint development of technological and defense capabilities.

GMV was represented by President Mónica Martínez Walter, who presented the company’s capabilities in defense, space, and cybersecurity. In her remarks, she highlighted that GMV is an independent Spanish technology group operating worldwide in critical sectors such as space, defense, border protection, and cyber defense, with a workforce of near 4,000 professionals.

The president underscored that GMV covers the full life cycle of critical systems, from design and engineering to manufacturing, integration, and logistical support. In defense, the company provides multidomain command-and-control systems, advanced ISR solutions that are interoperable with NATO and deployed in multinational operations, as well as navigation systems capable of operating in degraded environments.

In the space sector, GMV is a European leader in satellite navigation and space systems, serving as the prime contractor for the Galileo ground control segment and the world’s leading supplier of commercial satellite control centers, with systems that support over 900 satellites, including the Galileo, EGNOS, and Spainsat-NG constellations.

In cyberdefense, GMV’s developments protect critical infrastructure and EU missions through technologies based on artificial intelligence. In this context, the president offered Ukraine the company’s capabilities in resilient navigation, multidomain command-and-control systems, and secure satellite communications via the Govsatcom HUB, reaffirming GMV’s commitment to Ukraine’s industrial recovery and to strengthening Europe’s collective security.

The meeting, attended by Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles, along with ministry representatives and other senior government officials, helped open new opportunities for technological cooperation between the two countries and reinforced the role of Spain’s industry as a strategic partner in modernizing and strengthening Ukraine’s capabilities.

This event formed part of President Zelensky’s full official agenda in Spain, which included an address to the Congress of Deputies, an audience with His Majesty King Felipe VI at Zarzuela Palace, a visit to the Reina Sofía Museum accompanied by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and the signing of several bilateral agreements at La Moncloa Palace.
