Details

On 24 November 2017 the Portuguese Committee of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI) will be hosting in Lisbon its eleventh congress, dealing with the subject of “New technologies for mobility”. Paulo Alexandre Gomes, Director of Training and Operational Consultancy, Intelligent Transportation Systems in GMV Portugal, will be taking part in this event, focusing his presentation on the eCall solution.

In an increasingly globalized world, where transport systems are becoming faster, more automated and smarter by the day, new technologies play a key role, facilitating the introduction of new paradigms that boost efficiency and the quality of services offered to users.

Intelligent mobility makes use of real-time tools to optimize routes and energy consumption, favoring a substantial increase in transport safety and providing constantly updated information for users; this helps to achieve more integrated operations and better management overall.

The eCall system in Portugal has now been successfully set up within the deadline laid down by the European Commission. This flagship implementation project is now being presented as a fine example of public and private collaboration in setting up a top-quality emergency-call service for Portugal’s citizens.

This theme is so important across the board and arouses such a keen interest that it was thought fitting to involve all related entities. As such, all interested parties and stakeholders are invited to take part in the debate.
