Global Navigation Satellite Systems were the star feature of the three-day MGA Conference (Multi-Global Navigation Satellite Systems Asia).

Held on RMIT University's Melbourne City Campus from 23 to 25 October, this 10th MGA conference showcased all the latest advances in satellite-based position, navigation and timing systems and their applications. Participants swapped ideas on the importance of GNSS and discussed the growing demand for information based on these services, now being applied in various sectors such as agriculture and public transport.

GMV attended the conference to showcase its inhouse products and activities, stressing the GMV-developed user equipment to process the signal of the demonstrator built under a collaboration project between GMV, Lockheed Martin, Immarsat, Geoscience Australia and Frontier SI. The overall aim is to roll out a Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS) to demonstrate the benefits of navigation technology in Australia and New Zealand. This project will help to develop groundbreaking SBAS concepts, using dual frequency and multi-constellation data and including centimeter-accuracy positioning services.

GMV also gave three papers demonstrating its capabilities on the strength of the results obtained from this operational demonstrator deployed in Australia, now being widely used in many different sectors.

MGA is an international organization made up by GNSS-related international bodies, governments and industry. Its main activity is to promote GNSS projects and initiatives, serving not only as a networking site but also as provider of satellite signals and infrastructure for the Asia and Oceania region.
